Givenchy Launches Givenchy Défilés: The Book Celebrates 70-Year Collections Of The Brand

This Thursday, Givenchy has come up with a book called Givenchy Défilés. In English, the name of the book can be translated as Givenchy Catwalk. This book is a celebration of the brand’s 70-year collections.

The launch happened at Givenchy’s store on Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré. This launch was accompanied by champagne and sushi.

This book by Editions de la Martinière is now available at selected bookstores, and you can also procure it online for 59 euros.

Nevertheless, the book is like a tapestry of the 180 seasonal collections and heritage of the marque spanning a period of 70 years. These collections include some ready-to-wear clothes and some haute couture ones.

The research for this first-of-a-kind book from Givenchy started back in 2016. The book holds the details of the collections from 1952, the year of the inception of the brand by Hubert de Givenchy. It also has the works of Matthew M. Williams, who is the current artistic director of the luxury brand.

Along with these two, the book has collections of many other designers who have a crucial role to play in the brand shaping up to this scale.

One of the most prominent collections to feature in this book is the one by Alexander McQueen. He defined surreal fashion in modern times, and he made surreal fashion a signature of the Givenchy brand during his tenure at the brand from 1996 to 2001. John Galliano’s work and his works with the brand from 1995 to 1997 are other highlights of the book.

In addition, the book features the spring summer collection of the founder in 1955. The collection was completely devoted to Audrey Hepburn. She has been the Givenchy Muse, and from Breakfast at Tiffany’s to many other films, she and the brand have become synonymous.

This book has a whopping 1200 photographs and also features many autobiographical elements about the designers. Overall, it’s a book that every fashion lover would love to add to their collection.
